Carpenters builds and looks after exceptional homes. We extend, refurbish and build new houses, and look after them once they're finished.

Extensions, refurbishments and new houses

Single and two-storey extensions, whole-house refurbishments, barn conversions, garden buildings and new houses built from the ground up. You have a clear price before work starts, and any change is discussed and agreed with you before we go ahead.

If we're not the right builder for a job, we'll say so, and act for you with someone who is.

A guide range from our current building rates for Rutland, Stamford and the surrounding counties. It takes a minute and asks for nothing in return. When you're ready, we visit, look at the house and fix the price for the structure.

Property care

Your house, looked after once it's finished

Planned maintenance, servicing, gardens, decoration and the systems that run a modern home: heating, cooling, security, pools and gyms. You call one person. We send the right people, check the work and tell you when it's done.

Care runs on a monthly retainer agreed for each house. Any work beyond the retainer is priced and agreed with you before it's done.

Monitoring

Early warning, and someone to act on it

For care clients who want it, discreet sensors report to us so that a slow leak, a failing boiler or rising damp is picked up sooner. We respond within our agreed hours and arrange the right trade. Sensors add to your alarm and insurance cover. They don't replace them.

A full service history for your home

Every visit, service, certificate, warranty and improvement is written into one record kept for the life of our stewardship. It makes the house easier to insure, easier to maintain and easier to sell.

For houses we build, the record starts at the foundations.

Vetted trades
Every trade we send is checked for insurance, qualifications and references, and is bound by our confidentiality terms. You're told in advance who is coming.
Discretion
Your privacy comes first. Your details, your home and anything we see there are kept private, and nothing is shared or published without your written permission.
One contact
You are never passed between departments or trades. We own the problem until it is resolved.
We call back
If we don't know the answer, we find it, and we come back when we said we would.
Honest advice
We will tell you when we're not the right people for a job, and help you find those who are.
Clear pricing
You have the price before any work starts. If something needs to change, we discuss it and agree the cost with you before we go ahead.
Our story

Three generations since 1940

Carpenters began in 1940 as the family greengrocer's on Lordship Lane in Dulwich. Over the decades the family moved into property and lettings, and we still own the building where it started.

Today the company is in its third generation and has a new purpose: to build and look after exceptional homes with the care a family business gives the things it intends to keep.
