Who we are
Carpenters1940 is a trading name of Carpenter’s (Dulwich) Limited, registered in England and Wales, company number 00363079, registered office C9 Glyme Court, Oxford Office Village, Langford Lane, Kidlington, Oxford OX5 1LQ. We decide how your personal information is used, which makes us the controller under UK data protection law. You can contact us at enquiries@carpenters1940.com.
What we collect
- When you send an enquiry or ask for a site visit: your name, email address, telephone number, the postcode of the property, when you'd like to start, your budget band and your message.
- When you ask for a detailed estimate: your email address, the postcode of the property and the answers you gave in the cost guide.
- When you become a client: the details we need to look after your property or carry out the work, such as access arrangements.
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. The site loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser's IP address is sent to Google so the fonts can be delivered.
Why we use it
- To reply to you, arrange a visit and prepare a price. We rely on taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and on our legitimate interest in answering enquiries.
- To follow up a detailed estimate request once. We rely on our legitimate interest in following up a request you made.
- To send occasional project news, only if you ticked the box. We rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by replying to any email or writing to enquiries@carpenters1940.com.
- To carry out work for clients and keep the records the law requires.
Who we share it with
We use Netlify to host this website and receive form submissions, and Microsoft to run our email. They process your details on our behalf and under contract. Some of these providers store data outside the UK; where they do, the transfer is covered by the safeguards UK law requires. If you become a client, we share what is needed with the trades who carry out work at your property. We never sell your details.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries that don't lead to work for up to two years. For clients, we keep records for the length of our work together and six years afterwards, for tax and legal reasons. If you've agreed to project news, we keep your email address until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it or stop using it. You can also object to how we use it, or ask for it in a portable format. Write to enquiries@carpenters1940.com and we'll reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We'd be grateful for the chance to put it right first.
